The charm of a permanent job after Master in Biosciences and Biotechnology is the foremost choice of any fresh post graduate. Every year BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) recruits talented Post graduates through its OCES/DGFS programs. Selection to the Program is through a open competitive exam followed by an interview. After successful completion of one-year course work at the Institute, Fellows undertake project work, which is assigned by DAE and supervised jointly by a DAE and an Institute guide. On successful completion of their training they are posted as Scientific Officers in DAE. Appointment in DAE units shall be as a ‘Group A’ Gazetted Officer of the Government of India. OCES TSOs are paid a stipend of Rs.35,000 per month during the period of their Training and a one-time book allowance of Rs.10,000 whereas DGFS Fellows are paid a stipend of Rs.20,000 per month during M.Tech. / M.Chem.Engg. and a one-time book allowance of Rs.10,000. Moreover, these fellow have an option to pursue their Ph.D. at BARC before they are eventually absorbed as scientist "C" in various unit of BARC. However, since there are limited seats for these scientific officers, the competition to get through these schemes is very tough.
